The emotionally competent leader is responsible for the promises that are made within an organization. Our actions come out of our cares and commitments. These are all expressed through our conversations. The head of the organization is responsible for creating the safe space that allows for effective conversations to take place.
For conversations to be effective, we need to have emotional agility. Emotionally competent leaders have the skills for observing themselves and others.
They are emotionally aware, and can choose emotions that will work for the purpose at hand. Most importantly, they are the witness of what is required, and can get themselves to a position of “choice.”
